On Wednesday 23 September, P1 Investment Services hosted a lunch in London to recognise the fund managers who are working to advance net zero by 2030.
Every fund represented on the day has adopted one of P1's three net-zero frameworks: NZC10, NZC20 or NZC30. The event was a chance to thank the people behind those commitments and to present them with awards.
What are NZC10, NZC20 and NZC30?
NZC10, NZC20 and NZC30 are P1's investment and engagement frameworks supporting a 2030 net-zero ambition. They require minimum qualifying portfolio coverage of 10%, 20% and 30% respectively, with additional requirements under NZC20 and NZC30.
Qualifying activities include:
Investment in companies that are already carbon neutral
Investment in companies with credible strategies to reach net zero by 2030
Specified engagement activities
Adoption does not mean that the entire fund is already net zero, or that it will necessarily achieve net zero by 2030. You can find full details at netzerocarbon.earth.
Lord Deben joins as guest speaker
P1 was delighted to welcome Lord Deben as after-lunch guest speaker. Lord Deben is the former chair of the UK's Climate Change Committee and has long supported positive environmental and climate policy.
He also presented awards to the fund managers who have adopted the frameworks.

Commitment in a challenging environment
Recent years have been difficult for responsible, sustainable and ethical investors, and for those supporting net zero. That makes the commitment shown by these fund managers all the more commendable.
Despite social and political headwinds, taking steps to limit human-driven global warming remains essential. This summer's intense heat and wildfires were a clear reminder of what is at stake.
Climate science and the "brute facts"
The science is clear: reducing emissions is the most reliable way to slow global warming, and real net-zero emissions are needed to stabilise temperatures.
Some commentators try to build a social reality that denies or ignores this science. The philosopher John Searle drew a distinction between "social facts", which people construct, and "brute facts", which exist regardless of what we say about them. However much noise surrounds the debate, social facts cannot override the brute facts of climate science.
For fund managers working towards net zero by 2030, this offers reassurance. By aligning their portfolios with the evidence, they have made investment decisions grounded in scientific reality.
The initiative so far
As at May 2026, P1's 2030 net-zero investor initiative has been adopted by 21 commercial investment funds from 10 fund houses, with £14.5 billion of invested assets.
Although P1 is a commercial organisation, the initiative is run on a non-profit basis. Fund managers are not charged to adopt NZC10, NZC20 or NZC30.
